Our Story

For four generations, the family history of Champagne Fernand Lemaire has been written in the emblematic village of Hautvillers, classified as a 1er Cru.

In 1860, Fernand’s parents, Jeanne and Eugùne, cultivated a few vines of their own, although Eugùne’s primary occupation was that of the village blacksmith.

Fernand realised the richness of his terroir and decided to devote himself entirely to the winegrowing profession. Driven by his independent spirit, he purchased his own press, acquired his first vats, and carved out a cellar in the chalk.
